All three recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) of NaturalShrimp in Iowa, U.S.A, have received their stock of post-laval shrimp.

In a press release, the company said the facility is using NaturalShrimp’s patented filtration equipment for shrimp RAS operations.

NaturalShrimp said it will continuously stock the Blairsburg nursery facility with post-laval shrimp for later transfer to the company’s 270,000-sq.-ft. Webster City grow-out facility. Similar to the La Coste facility in Texas, the company’s Iowa facility will yield weekly harvests once it is operating at full capacity.

NaturalShrimp finished stocking its La Coste facility last month.

The Iowa facility will provide shrimp to major metropolitan areas in the Midwest, including Chicago.

“We are pleased that our Iowa location has come online so quickly,” said Gerald Easterling, chief executive officer of NaturalShrimp. “These facilities provide the company with the opportunity to be the largest fresh locally grown shrimp distributor in the United States.”

Earlier this month, NaturalShrimp was scheduled previewed the Webster City plant with local officials and Debi Durham, director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

“We continue on our timetable to deliver fresh shrimp to the upper Midwest region,” said William Delgado, chief financial officer of Natural Shrimp. “In addition, our recent S-3 filing will be instrumental in paying off our remaining debt and preferred shares. This financing will also include a $10,000,000 expansion at the Texas facility, effectively tripling the size.”
